The Desert has an array of colors & shapes & bringing them indoors helps to wild yr environment energetically & arouse new priorities & concerns as well as being colorful, pretty & friendly. The central piece here is 6.5 x 5″ x 4″ thick. The upper left figure is 6″ x 3″ x 3″ thick or tall. The upper rt piece is 4.5″ x 3.5″ x 2″ thick. Maw – Scottish word for Mother or “your Mother” as an insult or one up. The prefix Ma is a universal acknowledgement of the feminine goddess or principal in creation as seen in Madre, Mama, Matrix, & many other words which imply Motherhood or feminine creative agency. Also refers to a “gaping Maw” as in a “voracious animal” or dark door to a cave. Jack Kerouac wrote about “the wheel of the quivering meat conception” which “turns in the void” & creates all beings. The central piece here is 10″ x 8″ wide & reminds us the various emanations of matter which are the infrastructure of our “material” world are continuously created by a force which is considered feminine in many cultures. The endless variety, creativity & exuberance of this process is akin to Motherhood in our human experience & is actually more like a torrent or weather event in terms of its force & innate power. This is why we can create such extreme energies by “splitting” this infrastructure apart by mechanical force or chemical processes. Hunky Dory means A-OK, everything going on, & feel like a million.  These are chunky installations which intrude their narrative into your civilized life, giving it a wild boost. There are wild energies out there which can feed you! The largest piece is 6″ x 5.5″ x 4.5″ tall if laid on flat surface. These look good in various positions & angles, Play around with them in terms of integrating them into your environment. 7 piece grouping of combination pieces to enhance & enliven your civilized environment. Bringing rocks into your indoor environment stimulates it by the uncivilized colors, patterns & narratives which they embody. Spread them around or group together for display. Lively up yourself, jump up to the real, it’s going on without you! The larger piece is 7″ x 4.5″  features opalized glass which is often found underneath Juniper bushes or trees. Besides glass, the area underneath Junipers often has purple or blue hued rocks which are relatively rare in this area of New Mexico.  There is something in the soil or roots of these trees which causes this though I’m not sure of the mechanism, perhaps concentrations of manganese. The desert has an extremely wide palette of colors with endless hues in a continuum of photons which cascade into being & bring delight to the artists here. These pieces have many subtle hues, often within the same piece. These are great pieces for livening up an environment, Inspiration Installations for sure! Warm Orange brings us the excitement of complete embodiment, ourselves as our real material presence, the pleasure of breath & movement, calls us to Dance.  Lively Up Yourself said, Bob Marley The larger piece is 7″ x 3″ & 4″ tall or high. Because it is often true that rocks can be displayed from more than one interesting angle. This larger piece is thick & nice when laid on its base but it”s also more dramatic if tilted at a 45 degree angle toward the observer’s eye. All these pieces look good as they are, that is, without propping or stands or other display help. They are pretty chunky (&expensive to ship!) but are solid & relatively imposing in a civilized setting. A confluence & collaboration of seemingly disparate images which arise from a common energetic field.  The tensions created by the juxtaposition of elements in the design patterns draw the viewer into the larger energetic field. Relax & allow your eyes to stop making meanings out of everything you see. Something is calling you. It is on the other side of a mirror It confounds the normal categorizations & comparisons which we use to “make sense” out of our sensory impressions.

Physics describes a universe with a unified field of information.  We live in this sea. The angular & geometric trajectories of intention, volition, predilection, habit & every other agenda of Man or Nature are a mixturation & muckety muck we believe in & in which we are trapped by the web of words we have been given by our family, culture & what we have created. Don Miguel Ruiz calls this the Mitote, a nahuatl word meaning gathering, congregation, and a formal dance of the Aztecs in which every one learned & played their part. We are also playing a part we have been given by circumstances & meaning. Ruiz says every person’s single narratives add up to a noisy crowd in which no one is listening.

Vortex telegrams are messages from other places, dimensions, times, selves & eras. They are like Dada hand grenades thrown into polite conversations. They bleed through from other dimensions of here & now & show us many paths to the garden. They entice us and confound us until we fall into the act of seeing, a mystery without meaning but full of life & breathing!

Nice little rock garden with microcrystalline Quartz feature pieces.  Microcrystalline Quartz is formed at high temperatures & has many thousands of very tiny crystals which can’t be seen by the naked eye but exude a strange interstellar glow. When they are fractured one can see the extremely shiny surface which is actually composed of thousands & thousands of tiny crystals. One can see that beneath the water worn surfaces of these pieces there are other things going on. Many of the geologic process on Earth are similar to those on other planets. 7.5′ x 4.5′ x 3′ deep. SCHOLAR’S ROCK – See the Article on Scholar’s Rocks on this site.  This is a large (9.5″ long x 4″ wide x 4.25″ thick) sandstone piece which shows a delicate floral pattern & a charming color palette of greys, tans, orange, browns & cream.  Scholar’s Rocks are valued for their miniature depiction of nature and/or natural processes & were originally used as objects of contemplation by Chinese monks & scholar/philosophers. Today they have become a hobby for Chinese persons of all ages & social status.  The Chinese believe that contemplation of rocks leads one toward awareness & they are considered meditation aides.  We do too!  Click to see closeups or scroll through images with arrows!
