EARTH ANGELS
Quartz Crystals and Shell on iron heavy base rock with calcite. Base is 5″ long, Quartz 4″ long. A reminder of the angelic image emblazoned on our material world. These apparitions signal help when we align ourselves with their form. The fan like shape (seen in the shell and in fact in many rocks) is a portion of a spiral of manifestation which brings us into harmony with the flow of creation rather than being attached to a static image of any spiritual process or artifact. WAITING NOT WANTING
SOLIDITY built on balance of forces, the desert has its own subtle energy & imagery. The upper piece suggests an animal or bird immersed in its own revery or waiting silently with serpent intent. The pedestal looks like petrified wood although I believe it is some other sedimentary form with the peculiarly exquisite orange veins like sherbet got thrown in the mix. The balance between the two pieces is ideal giving the impression of solidity & floating at once! A wonderful desert treasure! Pedestal is 4.25″ long x 3″ wide. Upper piece is 3.75″ long. DESERT CANDLE I
The Desert is burning, it is a place of penitence & reckonings. The fierceness of the weather and land let us know we are not in control of our experience but there is always grace when we accept what is given to us. Something is always coming to fruition here. This engenders our faith. It is no accident that the Penitentes & the local Native American tribes took strength & resolve from the conditions & promise of this place. There are warm & burning lights in the sky & in the rocks & in the renditions of the Saints created by Santero artists. 7″ x 3.5″ Jasper, Calcite. Agate, Water worn Glass on Sandstone base. THE GOLDEN SOUTHWEST
THE GOLDEN SOUTHWEST is a popular phrase used in tourist manuals and advertising. People are attracted here for the sunshine, the pollen laden air, the colors of the desert, and the clear skies. The Navahos call this place of home “the pollen road” and honor nature’s processes by this designation. Because northern New Mexico is a place of high elevations there is an abundance of Ormes here as in other elevated locations such as the Andes, the Himalayas etc. There is also a relative abundance of materials unearthed by volcanic action, erosion & extreme winds and waters. The earth here sparkles. This is a little piece of that action for your attention & inspiration. Calcite on Sandstone.
