LUCKY STAR
The Star formation in the world of minerals and elsewhere, is a sign of good luck. In terms of formative energy it is the 5 points on a logarythmic spiral where the force is evenly & harmoniously distributed. This piece combines a Star with the purple Flourite on the lower end formed of individual crystals in the shape of a snake with a triangular head. The triangle is a solidly based shape which indicates completion at its base & points in a new direction at its zenith. It has been said that the triangle occurs in nature when an evolutionary leap is ready to occur. This is enhanced by the minerals involved here which point to purification and evolution. CROSS CURRENTS (XIUCOATL)
Images of 2 headed animals or animals facing in opposite directions appear in the Art & Cosmology of Mesoamerican cultures, Chinese and Eastern European culture and other places. The sign PISCES is an example, the Chinese Yin/Yang symbol another. Xiucoatl is the Aztec version, a 2 headed serpent which represents order and chaos. This is a fairly large piece, The sandstone base is 1 foot long & 5″ across at the widest. Black Jasper, multi colored Calcite & Ormus infused sea glass complete the picture. The Desert is a place where death is evident everywhere from the skulls & bones of animals & men, the hollow wood of cholla & pinon, the ghostly winds & the dried & parched remains of plants, fur & feathers. The everlasting cycle of life & death is memorialized in rock patterns as well. This skull (cattle, wolf?) reminds us our time is limited & we are still alive! A BRIEF LIFE
THIRST – Because the heat & lack of moisture in the desert make life more problematic, the desert is filled with apparitions of loss, dessication, mortality & injury. Skeletal remains of plants & animals litter the landscape & the lack of moisture also preserve these remnants for many years. There are wooden floors in homes in Santa Fe which are from the 1600’s! There are bones & fossilized bones, coral, cholla skeletons, snakeskins, ancient pottery shards & other remains. These act as signs & reminders of the fragility & temporal nature of life & hopefully call us to live fully when we have the chance as well as to enjoy the phosphorescent quality of death which releases light into the atmosphere. The cycle of nature is celebrated by Mexican culture in the day of the dead when we celebrate our ancestors & our own brief play here. 5.5″ long Click on image for closeup.
DESTINATION GALAXIAL
As we move outward from earth our destiny draws closer. The planets of our solar system define our egoic incarnation but our destiny as Star Children beckons us.
