THE GOLDEN SOUTHWEST is a popular phrase used in tourist manuals and advertising. People are attracted here for the sunshine, the pollen laden air, the colors of the desert, and the clear skies. The Navahos call this place of home “the pollen road” and honor nature’s processes by this designation. Because northern New Mexico is a place of high elevations there is an abundance of Ormes here as in other elevated locations such as the Andes, the Himalayas etc. There is also a relative abundance of materials unearthed by volcanic action, erosion & extreme winds and waters. As we move outward from earth our destiny draws closer. The planets of our solar system define our egoic incarnation but our destiny as Star Children beckons us. This destiny has been attested to by Western Occultism, Native American legend & intuition as we gaze at the night sky. Red/Yellow/Black Sandstone base with Hummingbird motif (Huitzilopochtli) and Arrow Vector pointing the way. Huizilopochtli is the son of the Divine Mother & the Savior of our destiny. Drunken Star, a half formed variant of the classic 5 pointed star, indicating an unbalanced spinning vortex, where a vector can spin off in any direction at anytime & a partial Calcite flower form with the white center on a bed of black & white Sandstone…the whole a dream in the mind of man. WAITING NOT WANTING
SOLIDITY built on balance of forces, the desert has its own subtle energy & imagery. The upper piece suggests an animal or bird immersed in its own revery or waiting silently with serpent intent. The pedestal looks like petrified wood although I believe it is some other sedimentary form with the peculiarly exquisite orange veins like sherbet got thrown in the mix. LUCKY STAR
The Star formation in the world of minerals and elsewhere, is a sign of good luck. In terms of formative energy it is the 5 points on a logarythmic spiral where the force is evenly & harmoniously distributed. This piece combines a Star with the purple Flourite on the lower end formed of individual crystals in the shape of a snake with a triangular head. The triangle is a solidly based shape which indicates completion at its base & points in a new direction at its zenith. It has been said that the triangle occurs in nature when an evolutionary leap is ready to occur. This is enhanced by the minerals involved here which point to purification and evolution.
