GODSEYE, so called, because the central crystal is framed by interpenetrating planes of crystal. This is an unusual specimen, in fact, I have never seen another one like it. CHRYSANTHEMUM STONE
Chrysanthemum Stone stands on end on flattened surface. Chrysanthemum Stone is the Chinese name for this dramatic black and white stone which forms plant like “flowers” due to inclusions of celestite, calcite or quartz. This stone is considered the symbol of the royal family in China. Stone of wealth and social standing, it helps one to bloom and is considered advantageous for relationships and new ventures. It is a “good luck” stone and is often given to someone starting out in a new career or relationship. This specimen stands 10.5″ tall and 5″ wide at the largest dimension. High gloss polish. SAND MASK
Mask like shape exhibits spectrum of desert coloration yellow, red, wine and black in single sculpted piece. These colors are created by the mineral content of the surrounding strata plus organic coloration from algae of different kinds which grow in winter in the Southwest and are baked into the sandstone in the blazing summers here. 6″ x 4.75: Looks good from all 4 angles.

PROTO JASPER ON SANDSTONE
Proto Jasper or Primitive Jasper is the stage where Chert is evolving into Jasper. It arises from sandstone beds when pressure and heat meld the silica in the sand into a harder, denser material. The curved cracks show the standard fracture pattern which is evident in even the hardest forms of Jasper and can be seen in Native American tools and arrowheads. The base here is from the same beds as the featured piece and shows manganese deposits (desert varnish) in patterns on the sandstone base. Jasper is 2.5′ x 2″, base is 3/25″ long. OGUN’S HELMET
OGUN is the Orisha who represents and embodies the energy of Iron. An orisha is a personification of a force of nature in the IFA religion, an ancient system of belief which originated in Nigeria but has now spread all over the world. By extension he governs the forces of civilization which rely on the development of metal technology. He also is involved as one of the progenitors of the human species because the development of life on earth began with rust, a product of iron which acted as food for primitive life forms. Ogun helps with issues of stability and structure. He also provides protection from the violence of crime and war because as the foundational element of weaponry, metal, he governs all their many uses by mankind as well. JASPER ON SANDSTONE
Jasper is formed when sedimentary rocks are compressed by heat and or hydraulic pressure. These rocks come from the same beds and represent 2 steps in the process. The upper rock is chert or proto jasper and the base is sandstone the first step when the sediments harden. As the process continues the silica in sandstone hardens and eventually becomes very dense and usually more shiney and is then called jasper. 3.25″ long. Jasper is 2.5″ long.
